How The Story Of Freemasonry Can Change The World.
A message from the Producer and Director Michael Toth

I believe that Freemasonry is one of the best things that ever happened to humankind.

When it came out in public in 1717, Freemasonry may well have pioneered the very concept of religious freedom, the individual right to worship God according to one’s own conscience. They also believed in the outrageous idea that people have the right to make their own laws, choose their own rulers and elect their own government. These concepts of Masonic purpose were new, different, and important.

I think Freemasonry is an incredibly exciting and interesting subject, not only for Masons. It was always an avant-garde of humanity. In Europe and Latin America, where Masonry is very much a secretive and mysterious organization, hunger for information and knowledge is enormous.

I think interest in the subject of Freemasonry is inherent in all intelligent, thoughtful, and caring human beings.

Besides my family, there are only two things I love more than anything else in this world: Filmmaking and Freemasonry. It is a wonderful thing when I can combine these two. The best results come when you love what you do for a living. In 1991, I produced the very first film about Freemasonry ever: “THE FREEMASONS - MYSTERY, MYTH and TRUTH”. I am very proud of this film. This film was seen by tens of thousands of people all around the world. This documentary brought countless good men and their families to Freemasonry and many of them became even better individuals. How many good deeds these new Freemasons have done in this world... no one can count; this is truly the essence of this organization. Because of that, I feel by making this documentary film I changed the world just a tiny bit to be a better place.

It seems as the world in our 21st century is in decline, morally, politically, and economically. The people in general have become more cynical than ever before in history.

I think that the ideas, philosophy and principals of Freemasonry can help the world. But, after talking to many Masons around the world, the overwhelming feeling I experienced was that the image of Freemasonry in general and especially in the US has suffered, and partly because of this, Masonry also is in decline.

I feel that something should be done about this present state of things. Being a film producer and director, I think that I am in a unique position, with a few of my Brother Masons who are filmmakers, to do something and help change things for the better. Eventually someone is going to make a huge Hollywood movie or a TV production that will not, at all, be to our liking as Freemasons. I think it would be healthier for us to have someone who is familiar and knowledgeable about Freemasonry to produce an honest and truthful TV Series.

Above is the trailer for the future TV series I have made, to give you a general idea about some of the stories, some fictional and some historical characters, that will appear in many episodes of this series.

WHY I AM A FREEMASON?

There are many reasons why I became a Freemason.
This is one of them:
“What we have done for ourselves alone dies with us; what we have done for others and the world remains and is immortal.”― Albert Pike

Freemasons give more than $3 million per day for different charities. From Shriners Hospital for Children with orthopedic conditions and spinal cord injuries, to Knight Templar Eye Foundation, to Scottish Rite Children’s Dyslexia Centers to Grottoes’ Humanitarian Foundation for special needs kids… Not very many people know that!
I made this video for Grottoes of North America Humanitarian Foundation, the Masonic charity very dear to my heart. I would like to share it with you. It is a short video, less than seven minutes, but I think it is very important to watch it till the end to understand why I want to do the project that I am doing.

The image and awareness of Freemasonry is almost non-existent and radical anti-Masonic groups attack whatever little image exists. Freemasonry needs to get visible because it has something to offer to humanity!

This project will ultimately have an exponential effect throughout the world to achieve our ultimate goal in helping those who need our help the most.

Thank you.

HERE IS ANOTHER REASON I AM A MASON: BROTHERHOOD

Through Masonry, I have found my place in this world. We work hard to do good for others. We keep asking questions, we keep learning and we continue discussing ethical and philosophical teachings we should live by, all to make our world a better place to live for all.

Freemasonry is also a verb.

Being a Freemason for 29 years certainly helps me to understand the subject I am dealing with. It comes down to personal stories. Life is a drama full of happiness, sadness and regret. That is what makes people identify with characters and what makes viewers come back to see what happens next with the characters’ lives. It is not what happens in a fictional Masonic lodge that will make them come back to watch the next episode. When you make your audience cry, smile or laugh with your stories and you make them think and discuss with their family and friends, that is how you change the world with art and not just simply entertain them.

THE IMAGE AND RELEVANCE OF FREEMASONRY IN TODAY’S WORLD

“All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing”.
- Edmund Burke, a Freemason

It seems as the world in our 21st century is in decline, morally, politically, and economically. The People in general have become more cynical than ever before in history.

I think that the ideas, philosophy and principles of Freemasonry can help the world. But, after talking to many Masons around the world the overwhelming feeling I experienced was that the image of Freemasonry in general and especially in the US has suffered, and partly because of this, Masonry also is in decline. Are we becoming irrelevant? How can we change this?

Dozens of documentaries and some feature films were produced and broadcast on TV cable channels, but none of them with the real understanding of what Freemasonry is all about. That is because the people who produced all of those programs, do not belong to the Masonic Fraternity and cannot understand the real meaning of the Brotherhood.
Have you ever asked yourself, after watching or reading biographies of famous people, why nothing is said about their affiliation with Freemasonry?  Recently a TV Special about the Roosevelt family was broadcast on Public Television and not a word about US presidents Theodor and Franklin being Freemasons. An epic film about Simon Bolivar was produced, but his Masonic affiliation never mentioned.

Freemasonry needs to get visible because it has something to offer to humanity as it always has since The Enlightenment in the18th century to the formation of the USA, to today’s ethical and philosophical teachings. The list of famous Freemasons throughout history to present day is endless, from George Washington, Winston Churchill, Mozart, Duke Ellington, Ossie Davis, Buzz Aldrin, Richard Pryor, Mark Twain and many more. Ideas and passions drove revolutionaries, scientists and artist to change their world. There is a story never told before that just might change our world a little bit to be a better place.

It is about time to show the world the real story of Freemasonry and the real nature of the so-called “secret society” that’s been behind the scenes of history for so many centuries.

I feel that something should be done about this present state of things. Being a film producer and director, I think that I am in a unique position, with a few of my Brother Masons who are filmmakers, to do something and help change things to be better. Eventually someone is going to make a huge Hollywood movie or a TV production that will not, at all, be to our liking as Freemasons. I think it would be healthier for us to have someone who is familiar and knowledgeable about Freemasonry to produce an honest and truthful TV Series.

FREEMASONRY NEEDS TO GET VISIBLE BECAUSE IT HAS SOMETHING TO OFFER TO HUMANITY

Freemasonry is a great mystery and always will be. Anybody can find all the secret words, signs or handshakes in libraries or on the Internet. Yet there is a secret, one so enviable that can never be confided or whispered to anyone. It can only be reached through a personal experience.

But… Freemasonry needs to get visible because it has something to offer to humanity. The list of famous Freemasons throughout history to present day is endless, from George Washington, Winston Churchill, Mozart, Duke Ellington, Ossie Davis, Buzz Aldrin and many more. Ideas and passions drove revolutionaries, scientists and artist to change their world. There is a story never told before that just might change our world a little bit to be a better place.

A Dramatic narrative TV series covering 10 centuries of one family’s history, weaving through it the story of the creation and influence of the most important non-governmental organization in the history of mankind, which has never been done before, makes this project most unique and in position to create and portray the sense of majesty and mystery of Freemasonry.
